Centrally located on Berlin’s Torstrasse, a narrow gap is being innovatively redesigned to house an exclusive residential building. Based on the architectural design by Graft Architects, BFA has been involved since the beginning of this project, and is responsible for all steps in the process from planning to implementation to completion. The result is a building that interprets the surrounding Wilhelminian style buildings in a contemporary way: a multi-edged aluminum curtain as a façade borrows the aesthetics of the area while simultaneously emphasizing the high design standards. The interior is playfully juxtaposed between different levels, with the open connections of split-levels and offsets accentuated within the individual residential units. Staggered terrace areas link the first floor with a garden. In addition, a representative entrance further highlights the successful and auspicious image of modern living in the city.
