Rudower Straße, Berlin

Forming a U-shape around a communal courtyard, stand three newly developed three-storied apartment buildings. Forty-two small residential units in this development on Rudower Straße have been planned. Single room apartments are positioned with southeast and southwest exposure, whereas two and three room apartments, allowing light exposure from multiple directions, are located at the gable ends. To maximize the favorable lighting, each apartment is outfitted with a balcony or terrace. The façade design plays with opposites: Light-gray surfaces juxtaposed against white folds around the windows, and further contrasted against dark balcony railings.
