Extension of a Vocational School, Ziegelbrücke (CH)

Two individual vocational schools in Ziegelbrücke, Switzerland, are set to become one. By envisioning the sports hall stacked on top of the primary school space, BFA’s approach is both creative and space efficient. The orientation of the floor plan relates to the surrounding Glarus panorama. A bright and unobstructed working atmosphere is facilitated through the open design of the individual floors. Additionally, the local industrial history and primarily the weaving trade play significant roles in the design. Analogies to warp and weft threads are implemented architecturally in the form of crossing beams and in the facade design.
