Variety of Life in Marzahn

A four-part residential development in Berlin-Marzahn has been designed for the Berlin housing construction company, Degewo. The upper floors of the buildings are all similarly constructed, but differ in the number of floors altogether and which direction they face the sun. The contemporary building boasts a total of 180 residential units with one to five rooms and a substantial amount of subsidized and barrier-free apartments. Additionally, there are three commercial units on the ground floor, which faces the square. The façade is adorned with generous windows and folds that can be projected from floor to floor. Differentiated plaster structures and colors gives a lively, playful impression. With its subtly contrasting, horizontal plaster bands, the façade adapts design features from the previous construction phases, all the while conveying its own identity with frames, plaster structures and colors.
