Primary School Oxfordquarter, Münster

In the bustling Oxford district of Münster, BFA has designed a new, modern primary school as a conversion and extension of a former barracks building. The focus of the current design is on the concept of joining together, instead of division and separation. To extend this concept, the entrance area and the forum—the heart of the school—will be arranged in the terrace of the existing building, which is historically protected. The extension is created as a clearly structured “Lernhausschule” or learning house school. With it´s cubic design language and own materiality, the extension is defined as a contemporary layer of time, whereas it`s impressive height and vibrant color effect give tactful reference to the existing building.
