Thomas-Wimmer-Haus, Munich
InformationXThe Thomas-Wimmer-Haus is part of the “Alte Heimat” foundation settlement in Munich’s Laim district. The existing building on Burgkmairstraße is planned to be replaced by a structure of similar dimensions. It’s design will respect the original authenticity, but blend in with neighboring buildings, and preserve as much of the surrounding greenery as possible. BFA has proposed a modern senior living facility with care services on the ground floor. The design concept focuses on communication and interaction among residents. This goal is primarily supported by the innovative design of the ground floor area, both indoors and outdoors. The green space at the heart of the building provides public access to the day care center and psycho-social support services. To ensure efficient space utilization, all office and consultation rooms can be easily separated from the multifunctional room and kitchen outside of opening hours. These spaces remain accessible to residents 24/7. All single-room apartments in the seven-story building will be tailored to the individual needs of senior residents. The apartment layouts are compact, well-organized, and offer barrier-free views of the surroundings.
